Boot camp for Pak players ahead of WC

Boot camp for Pak players ahead of WC

Wasim Akram former Pakistan captain and Player of tournament in 1992 World cup has suggested PCB should organize boot camp for Pakistan players ahead of 2015 World cup in Australia and New Zealand. Pakistan might not be able to perform well on overseas pitches so its better for them to organize a boot camp in hilly part of Pakistan to get some exposure to climate and wind overseas. Wasim also suggested that Pakistan should head to Australia few weeks prior to start of World Cup, it did help in 1992 when Pak team return as champions. "For me the only worry is the 2015 World Cup will be totally different as grounds in Australia and New Zealand require great expertise and good preparation," Wasim told AFP.

Wasim said his big concern is Pakistan players fielding. He has spoken to Jonty Rhodes and is willing to provide fielding training for a while. "When I am away I always ask experts to help Pakistan and recently I talked to Jonty Rhodes who is ready to help Pakistani players in fielding for a short period," said Wasim

  1. Wasim Akram is right about organizing a boot camp for Pakistan players because conditions in Australia and New Zealand is completely opposite to Pakistan. Pitches are green and bouncy; support pace rather than spin. Pull short will be hard for Pak batsman so they need a lot of practice in all departments.
