Kallis took retirement

Jacques Kallis had finally decided to retire from international limited overs cricket about six months before start of World Cup. Kallis, who is 38 years old, retired from Test cricket last year. He was hoping to play the upcoming World Cup. However after beating Sri Lanka for the first time in their home, a few weeks later, he decided to quit.
Kallis realised that his dream of playing World Cup was too difficult & far away. He visualized that the squad that played in Sri Lanka is talented & have a good chance of bringing the trophy home. He would like to thank the South African cricket board, sponsors, players & his fans for great support. He feels that his career journey was amazing.

Reason of quitting:
Jacques Kallis realised that he was in poor form during Sri Lanka tour. He scored only 5 runs in three innings and also couldn't bowl a single over. However he is keen to play Twenty20 club cricket.

"I am not retiring from all cricket as I have a two-year contract with the Sydney Thunder and, if possible, to help the Kolkata Knight Riders defend the IPL title we won earlier this year," he said.

Jacques Kallis is the only cricketer who scored more than 11,000 runs & took 250 wickets both in ODI & Test cricket.

Kallis statements:,

"I realised in Sri Lanka that my dream of playing in a World Cup was a bridge too far,"

"Ï just knew on that tour that I was done. The squad that was in Sri Lanka is an amazing one and I believe they have a good chance of bringing the trophy home in March.

"I would like to thank Cricket South Africa, the team, the team sponsors, my sponsors, the fans and all the people who have been involved in my career. It has been an amazing journey."
