Kardinia Park, Geelong to Host Cricket:

Kardinia Park in Geelong, Victoria has been accredited to host International cricket. It will be Australia's 11th venue to host cricket in country. Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades played warm up match in Geelong ahead of Big Bash League last season. West Indies played a 2 days warm up match against Victoria XI at same venue as well. After doing some alteration to the pitch so that boundaries distance is balanced, Kardinia Park met all the ground requirements set by ICC.

"We're committed to taking the game to as many parts of the country as possible and we continue to work with regional areas around Australia on how we can make this happen," Sutherland said. "Geelong proved its capability to host cricket last summer with a successful BBL exhibition match between the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades attracting more than 10,000 people. "We're really looking forward to the people of the Geelong region and beyond packing out the stadium and supporting the women's and men's national sides."

Australia will host Sri Lanka for a T20 international match at Kardinia Park, Geelong, Australia. This will be the first international cricket fixture on this ground. Sri Lanka will play against Australia in Feb, 2017 in a Twenty20 game. Sri Lanka will pay remaining two T20 matches in Melbourne and Adelaide. Kardinia Park has been used to host AFL games, home town of Geelong cats. Now ground will be shared between cricket and AFL.
