  1. AB de Villiers will miss out on one-off match against Ireland on September 25 to allow himself more time to recover from the elbow injury that kept him out of the New Zealand Tests. Faf du Plessis will captain the South African team in absence of de Villiers. Rilee Rossouw is added to the squad as batting cover against Ireland.

  2. South Africa v Ireland ODI match will the first to feature new DRS protocols. For a not-out decision to be overturned, more than half the ball now has to be impacting the pad within a zone bordered by the outside of off and leg stumps (formerly it was the centre of off and leg stumps), and the ball needs to be hitting the stumps within a zone bordered by the outside of off and leg stumps and the bottom of the bails (formerly the centre of off and leg stumps, and the bottom of the bails).
