Opener Alex Hales also decided not to tour Bangladesh due to security concerns will do a come back against India. Joe Root was rested in England v Bangladesh ODI series and he will be back as well to provide further strength to England ODI squad. Ben Duckett would be very disappointed not being selected in English one day team. Morgan, Hales and Root inclusion in the England ODI squad for tour of India will bring extra aggression to the team.
Selecting England ODI squad for tour on India was a very tough one. Selectors had too many options to go through before making final decision. World class batsman, bowlers and allrounders were filtered and finest players are included in ODI team. England selectors decided to stick with winning combination that had done very well in past 1 year. England head coach Trevor Baylis said about Duckett, "At this stage he is more suited to white-ball cricket and he showed he had what it takes in Bangladesh. There were a couple of innings there that were class. He has done well for himself but we thought we would show a bit of solidarity with the team we have had and done so well in last 12-18 months."
Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes have played a lot of cricket recently and could be rested to give chance to youngsters. Apart from Ali and Stokes, Joe Root and Chris Woakes are the other two players who represents country in all format of cricket. Few fresh faces that are not part of England test squad would provide a burst of energy to team. Morgan is the 7th highest runs maker for England in ODI matches. His experience and leadership would be vital in England success. England opener Alex Hales has scored highest ODI runs, 171 for England. Selectors has made the right decision by including experienced and fresh faces in England team for ODI series against India 2017.
England tour of India three match ODI series will start on 15 January 2017 and will end on 22 January, 2017.
