India Announced Squad for ODI Series 2017:MS Dhoni resign and India limited over captain and will play in ODI and T20 series as a wicket keeper - batsman. Virat Kohli has been appointed as India full time ODI and T20 captain, Kohli is already leading Indian team in Test matches. Meanwhile BCCI is searching for Dhoni's successor behind the wicket. Dhoni will keep on playing as long as he wants to and as long he can perform with bat and gloves, however there is a need of finding an other wicket keeper who can take glove responsibility after Dhoni's retirement. "As far as MS is concerned, he is fit and fine and there is no two ways about it. But, you still need to have a back-up ready, no? You have to prepare a succession chart, that is what is happening. Mahi is one guy who doesn't keep knowledge within himself; he is always there to share. So what else do you want?" BCCI has also recalled Yuvraj Singh for both ODI and T20 series against England. Suresh Raina has been re-called for T20 series 2017. Ajinkya Rahane and Shikar Dhawan are included in India ODI squad for England series.
India has included both spin allrounder R Ashwin and R Jadeja in upcoming ODI series against England. Amit Mishra will play as specialist spinner in ODI series. Yuvraj Singh inclusion in the squad is the biggest talking point at this stage. It came up as a big surprise to every one but Indian fans would be delighted to see their hero back in action. It will be Yuvi first ODI match for India since December 2013, which is more than 3 years ago, Yuvi last played for India in March 2016. Yuvraj Singh is 35 year old now but his match fitness is better than youngsters, he scored 672 runs in Ranji Trophy 2016-17 at a batting average of 84. "We should appreciate the way Yuvraj Singh has played in domestic cricket," chairman of selectors MSK Prasad said. "All these days we thought he hasn't played long innings. But he has scored a double-hundred. He scored 180 [sic] on the Lahli wicket." It will be a good combination of youth and experience players in India ODI squad against England.
India has announced two squads for warm up games ahead of ODI series. Players would be tested and rested in both games. MS Dhoni will lead the team in first warm up match, Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh will be part of the squad. Second warm up match will be led by Rahane, Raina would be given opportunity to display his batting and fielding skills once again.
First warm up match: Shikhar Dhawan, Mandeep Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (captain and wicket keeper), Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ashish Nehra, Mohit Sharma and Siddharth Kaul.
Second warm up match: Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane (captain), Suresh Raina, Deepak Hooda, Ishan Kishan (wicket keeper), Sheldon Jackson, Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem, Parvez Rasool, Vinay Kumar, Pradeep Sangwan and Ashok Dinda.
India ODI squad: It will be the first time Virat Kohli will lead Indian ODI team on full time basis after retirement of Dhoni as ODI captain. Dhoni will still play in Indian team but his duties will be restricted to wicket keeping and batting. Yuvraj Singh inclusion will add to allrounder list of current India ODI squad.
