England clean sweep West Indies in ODI series:
Alex Hales & Joe Root tons lifted England to a superb triumph over West Indies in the 3rd & final one day international in Barbados.
This is the 5th biggest victory according to runs terms that England have ever achieved in ODIs. It means that England, who have already won the first two matches, have clean sweep West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series. For the first time England have achieved it since 2003, the first time they have clean sweep Windies in an ODI series played in West Indies & it is the biggest defeat that Windies have experienced at home ground according to runs.
West Indies are going down the order in ODI ranking & it seems difficult for them to qualify for the 2019 World Cup if they do not improve. West Indies is currently ranked 9 in ODI ranking; in order to qualify for the World Cup they should be in top 8 teams.
England beat West Indies 3-0 in ODI series. Woakes took 3-16 & was awarded the man of the series award.
Hales & Root made a second wicket partnership that crushed the hosts. The spectators had never seen such performance in Caribbean before as it was a shocking performance by England who showed consistency in their batting order in limited over cricket.
Alex’s ton proved his brilliant form as he has recently recovered from injury. Due to injury Hales did not play since 19 January but his performance keeps the England management’s faith in him. He was backed up by Root & they both pushed England to a dramatic win over West Indies.
Root was dropped on 1 & 12, & we have seen such instants quite a few times in this series. The missed chances could not stop the England batsmen & runs were adding at a high run rate.
England played with energy & they set a huge target of 329.
Liam Plunkett bowled in tight line & he dismissed 3 top order West Indies batsmen in his opening spell. This put a lot of pressure on West Indies middle order batsmen as their top order could not survive the England pacer.
Woakes dismissed 3 players for just giving away 16 runs in 8 overs. Woakes received the man of the series trophy.
West Indies could not play to its potential & they were all out for 142 in 39.2 overs. England concluded the match with 182 runs victory over West Indies.
