India v Sri Lanka third Test match end in draw:

Ravindra Jadeja removed Mathews in the morning session of a no ball but India still could not won the game despite top order collapse. It seemed that the Test match would end in India favor but Sri Lanka managed to draw the game. Sri Lanka captain Chandimal will be happy of losing series 1-0 instead of 2-0. Sri Lanka who were once 31-3, survived the whole day while losing only 2 wickets.

The game was closed 35 min before time as both teams realized that match was heading towards a draw. Virat Kohli congratulated debutant Roshen Silva (77*) for batting three hours. He was accompanied by Dickwella (44*) who batted more than one & a half hours.

Dhananjaya de Silva (retd. Hurt on 119) & Dinesh Chandimal (36) steadied the run chase & sweat the bowlers. Indian fielders gave few chances to Sri Lanka batsmen as wicketkeeper Saha missed out an easy stumping of Dickwella in the second innings.

Dhananjaya de Silva secured his 3rd Test hundred as team India put heaps of pressure on Sri Lanka batsmen but still could not take wickets because the pitch was playing flat.

Captain Dinesh Chandimal & Angelo Mathews struck hundreds before Indian bowlers came strong on day 3 of the 3rd Test.

Sri Lanka secured 356-9 with Chandimal playing on 147 with his partner Sandakan on nought at the end of day 3. India lead by 180 runs in their 1st innings.

Ashwin grabbed 3 while Shami, Ishant & Jadeja picked 2 wickets each. Sri Lanka came back with a 180 runs partnership b/w Mathews (111) & Chandimal in smoggy Delhi.

They survived the air pollution for over 3 sessions when Sri Lanka players stopped play for 20 min.
Mathews who was dropped 3 times, struck a hundred. He was removed by Ashwin just before tea.

Samawickrama also helped Chandimal with his 33 runs but he was caught behind off Ishant.

Sri Lanka batting line-up collapsed against Indian bowlers as Silva & Dickwella were dismissed for duck.

Chandimal who looked a bit uneasy in the morning session while asking for trainer, sweat India & because of him Sri lanka avoid a follow on.

Earlier,

Virat Kohli struck another double hundred to put India in a strong position in third Test against Sri Lanka. The fielders wore anti-pollution masks in a smoggy Delhi.

Kohli completed his 6th double ton as skipper. Sri Lanka fielders complained air pollution & few of them started vomiting when they came out on field. Sri Lanka stopped play three times. Pace bowlers Gamage & Lakmal went back to pavilion & forced India to declare innings on 536-7.

At stumps the visitors were 131-3. Mathews was playing on 57 with his partner Chandimal on 25. 

India declared their first innings for 536-7 after Kohli smashed double ton second time in the Test series.

Sri Lanka were 18-2 at tea, short by 518 runs. Dilruwan Perera was playing on 12 while Angelo Mathews managed to score 4 runs, trying to endure India pace attack.

Karunaratne was dismissed on the first ball of the innings in Mohammad Shami’s bowling. Ishant Sharma trapped Dhananjaya de Silva lbw for scoring only 1 run.

Virat Kohli helped India to post a grand total after scoring his second Test hundred to crush the Sri Lanka bowling attack.

The skipper began the day on 156, with his overnight partner Rohit Sharma who was playing on 65, & the pair added 5th wicket partnership of 135 runs.

Rohit was removed by Sandakan who secured 4 wickets.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli made a not out 156 to cross 5000 runs in Test cricket on his home ground. Virat Kohli & Murali Vijay kept the scoreboard ticking as they both added 283 for third wicket partnership as India openers were dismissed in the morning session. Vijay was later removed for 155 but Kohli remained unbeaten at the end of the day.

Lakshan Sandakan managed to take two late wickets as he removed Vijay & Rahane. Vijay was stumped for 155 & Rahane was stumped too for adding just 1 run.

Kohli smashed 213 during second Test match as India crushed Sri Lanka to go one up in the Test series.

Kohli hit 16 boundaries during his batting to go past 5000 Test runs in this match. He also became the first skipper to add two consecutive Test centuries in a 3 match series.

Vijay also secured his 2nd consecutive Test century following a brilliant knock of 128 when he returned from injury in Nagpur.

Perera completed his 100 Test wickets after removing Dhawan early. He became the quickest Sri Lanka bowler to reach 100 wickets in 25 matches, two less than Muralitharan.
