Lions defeated Indians in CLT20 qualifier

Lahore Lions defeated Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets in 2nd qualifier match of CLT20. Umar Akmal played an outstanding knock of unbeaten 38 off just 18 balls to get a 6 wickets victory against defending champions Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai batted first and posted an average total of 135 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Aditya Tare (37 off 36) was the top scorer from Mumbai side.

Lahore took a good opening start with Nasir Jamshed (26 off 24) & Ahmed Shehzad (34 off 33) but they lost quick wickets soon after opener departs. Lahore was losing their way in the mid but Umar Akmal & Asif Raza took the game out of Indians hand. Umar played an unbeaten 38 off 18 balls to complete the chase in just 18.4 overs. He also received player of the match award.

Saqlain agreed to help Ajmal

Pakistan Cricket Board requested former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq to help Ajmal correct his bowling action so that he can participate in the upcoming 2015 World Cup.  Saqlain confirmed PCB offer from London on Wednesday. He is renowned Pakistani top off-spin bowler whose career ended due to knee injury. He is also the inventor & pioneer of "doosra" delivery.

Saqlain currently runs his own academy of spin bowling in UK. He was never reported for his bowling action through out his career. Saeed Ajmal got suspension from cricket after his bowling action was proved illegal after tested under ICC management. It was proved that all of his deliveries exceeded 15 degrees of tolerance for legal deliveries.

Saeed Ajmal wants a come back in international cricket. He said that he will change his bowling action to contribute in the upcoming World Cup 2015.

Saqlain said that Ajmal's elbow seemed to be going ahead of 15 degrees extension permitted by the ICC. He said, "Yes he seems to be having problems but he is a born fighter and I am sure he can adjust himself and his bowling to different conditions," He added "Saeed will have to review his bowling action and remodel it accordingly because of the new protocols of the ICC on bowling actions,"

Saqlain said that regardless of busy timetable, he is always ready to serve his country & would help Ajmal in bowling.

Ajmal banned by ICC

Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has been banned by ICC for illegal bowling action. ICC has recently conducted Ajmal's bowling action tests at Cricket Australia National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, Australia. A team of Human Movements Specialists has conducted Saeed's tests under ICC management. According to the analysis of tests, all his deliveries has exceeded the 15 degree level of tolerance as permitted under ICC regulations.

Saeed Ajmal bowling action was reported recently after first test match against Sri Lanka in Galle. He can apply for re-assessment after he has modified his bowling action under 2.4 clause of the ICC Regulations. 

Saeed Ajmal was previously reported in 2009 for his "doosra" but later on his action was cleared after tests at the University of Western Australia in Perth.

India want clean sweep in odi

Team India lead five match odi series 3-0. Recently England beat India 3-1 in test series. Team India fight back as they win all one-day matches they play, except, first one that get abandon without a ball bowl. They already keep the odi series in pocket by three consecutive one-day victories. Now they want to win the final one-day to complete their clean sweep against English team.

SL defeated Pak in odi series

Sri Lanka won the odi series after they defeated Pakistan by a major seven wickets in the third and final one-day. They also defeated Pakistan in the test series 2-0 during the same tour. 

Pakistan's defeat in Sri Lanka clearly shows their lack of preparation for 2015 World Cup which is just 5 months away.

Former Pakistani player, Ramiz Raja said that team's preparations for World Cup are not up to the mark. 

Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq said that Pakistan team need fresh talent in order to win the upcoming World Cup. He also criticized the batting side & said that players have forgotten how to stay at the wickets & have lack of consistency in batting.  

Former captain Rashid Latif criticized the old players and said that Pakistan team are continuously playing the old players but they do not have trust in new players that's why their graph is going down with every series.

Latif also said that Misbah's future is in trouble as he couldn't perform in his last seven innings of the Sri Lanka tour & his captaincy was purely defensive.

In current situation Rashid suggested that Shahid Afridi should replace Misbah-ul-Haq as Pakistan's one-day captain in the upcoming series against Australia.

SL leveled odi series 1-1

Sri Lanka leveled 3 match bi-lateral odi series 1-1 after they defeated Pakistan in 2nd odi by 77 runs. Sri Lankan team showed an all-round effort in order to beat Pakistan by a huge margin. 

Sri Lanka batted first and lost 3 quick wickets for 62 runs. Captain Angelo Mathews batted sensibly as he scored his career best knock of 93 but unfortunately missed his first century. Mathews was accompanied by Mahela, who scored 67 off 74 balls including eight boundaries. Later on Perera joined the party with his quick knock of 65 off 36 balls to post a massive total of 310 in 50 overs.

Pakistan started their chase sensibly with 2nd wicket partnership of 96 runs but soon all-rounder Hafeez departs for 62 off 49 balls. Weak Pakistani batting line-up scattered after Hafeez dismissal. Umar Akmal lost his wicket for scoring only 1 run. In slow chase Pakistan gradually lost wickets & their whole team couldn't even play 50 over game. Pakistan reached upto 233 runs in 43.5 overs for the loss of 10 wickets.

Sri Lanka won the 2nd odi match by 77 runs. Thisara Perera received Player of the match Award.

Ajmal's tests will be conducted on Monday

The International Cricket Council (ICC) said that Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal's bowling action tests will be conducted on Monday. The tests will be conducted using the same testing protocol that were previously used for testing the bowling action of New Zealand's Kane Williamson & Sri Lanka's Sachithra Senanyake.

ICC spokesman said in a press conference that Saeed Ajmal's tests will be conducted at Cricket Australia National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, Australia. He also added that the recognized lead team of Human Movement Specialists will conduct Ajmal's tests under ICC management. He said that the bowler's action tests are conducted using ICC testing protocol for convenient and accurate testing.

The result of Ajmal's bowling action tests will be known within two weeks.

Indian team hopes for a better start in ODIs

India hopes that the change in format would provide their players better luck in ODIs. Indian team after losing 3-1 to England in tests thinks to play good cricket as they will counter new faces in one day internationals.

Recently Pakistan has also lost the test series 2-0 against Sri Lanka but Pakistani team got backed up as they beat Sri Lanka in 1st ODI. After seeing the change in format has provided a better luck for Pakistan, Indian cricket team also hopes that they can beat England in one day internationals. Their one day squad may include an additional wicket keeper & also a third all-round spin bowler.

The upcoming 2015 World Cup is only 6 months away & will be hosted by Australia & New Zealand. Every single ODI played by the Indian cricket team will be a preparatory step towards defending the world cup 2011 crown.
