Cricket revival in Pakistan in doubt

Ireland cricket board was in negotiation with Pakistan cricket board for a tour but after recent terrorist attack on Karachi airport, Ireland has decided to hold back on its tour. Ireland had been willing to tour Pakistan after Bangladesh decided to withdraw from series in Pakistan last year.
Barry Chambers said “Cricket Ireland and the PCB were in advanced discussions to play three ODIs in Pakistan in September.” He also added, "Cricket Ireland is obviously very keen to secure as many fixtures as possible against Full Members, and these proposed games would have been very beneficial ahead of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup." These discussions has also involved contact with ICC, government and security advisers. However, after recent attack at Karachi airport, hopes of cricket revival in Pakistan has started fading away once again.

Paul Marsh joined AFLPA

Paul Marsh had been fulfilling his duties as Australian Cricketers Association chief executive and decided its time for him to move ahead and taking role as head of AFL player association. Footy is most popular sports in Australia and cricket has lost heaps of grounds and some good Aussie administrative figures. Its a big blow to cricket and yet an other window of progress to AFL. Australian cricket team coach Darren Lehman said, "Paul has left an indelible mark on both the players and the game." He also added, "From a personal point of view Paul has provided an enormous amount of support. I've really valued his leadership, advice, integrity and mateship. There's no doubt he'll be sorely missed but he's left both domestic and Australian cricketers - as well as the game generally - in a really strong position."

Ajmals declines captaincy

Saeed Ajmal declines t20 captaincy offer
Saeed Ajmal declines T20 captaincy offer because he wants to be relaxed.

Off spinner Saeed Ajmal declines t20 captaincy offer because he needs relaxation in cricket. Ajmal tells a website that he is not taking interest in captaincy that is being offered to him after Mohammad Hafeez's resignation in april 2014 because he feels better as a team player.

Ajmal says. “I don’t want to put myself forward for captaincy. I think I am better as a team player. I do think about being captain of Pakistan, but I am reluctant too,”

He adds. “Captaincy in Pakistan is not easy. The captain ends up being blamed for anything that goes wrong. Just look at Mohammad Hafeez. He resigned after our exit from this year’s World T20. Why It’s because all the blame was being dumped on him. I have been approached for captaincy but I declined. I want to be relaxed about my cricket. God has blessed me with a sunny disposition and I want to keep it that way.”

Ajmal praises Misbah's effort as a captain & gives him more credit than former captain Imran Khan. Misbah's standing at crease in Ajmal's bowling pleases him. He further adds that Misbah produces runs with his bat that helps him in bowling defending a good total. Ajmal doesn't look happy with Pakistani Nation and PCB as they blame captain after losing and he adds that people do not call Misbah in good names and says that he wastes balls during batting. He considers this criticism not fair for Misbah as he plays carefully and stays long on crease. He says.

“Misbah-ul-Haq has been outstanding in this role. In fact, when you consider the circumstances in which he has performed his job, I would say his services as captain are greater than even Imran Khan’s,” he said. “Yet he doesn’t always receive his due. He’s been a tremendous leader during an extremely difficult time for Pakistan and he’s been our leading run getter.

“Yet each time we lose a match, people forget about his magnificent contributions. They start demanding that he be dropped. I really fail to understand this.

He further adds. “Even as a batsman, people complain he’s too slow, that he blocks a lot, does a lot of tuk-tuk. This is not fair to Misbah. He is a watchful batsman and becomes extra-watchful if the team is losing wickets from the other end, which often happens with us.

His approach is appropriate and serves the interests of the team. I can tell you as a bowler that it pleases me greatly to see Misbah standing at the crease. If he is batting, it gives me heart that I will have runs to bowl at.,” he concluded”.

Hashim Amla had been appointed as new test captain of South Africa in place of retired Graeme Smith. Smith who had ruled as a captain for a long period of 10 years now had been replaced by Amla.
Amla had said that he would give all his heart to the game. He would also try to rebuild South African cricket team after departure of opener Graeme Smith & all rounder Jacques Kallis.
"Throughout the years I have concentrated mainly on my batting, trying to become the best batsman possible and hopefully I can still get there," Amla said. "But now I do feel it is time to act, to contribute in a team environment."
Amla had admired the work of his seniors and had said following words about them, "I have to pay tribute to Graeme and his leadership over the 10 years that I have been involved, there was certainly a lot of value that he added."
Smith did his job as a captain in a world record of 109 tests. Graeme Smith announced retirement from cricket in march 2014.
